Headphones

We have our Headphones in our ear,
Blocking out everything we need to hear,
drowning out everyone and everything,
listening to only what we want to,
we block out our friends and family,
we are in our own little world,
we listen but not to God,
but to the words slipping into our head,
the temptations and the lie's,
we take for the truth,
we don't hear what we need to,
just what we want to,
we need to take off those coverings of ours,
so we can here what God has to say,
stop covering your ears with your headphones,
and start listening to what God has to say,
stop listening to the devils lies and temptations,
he is just doing it to test our faith,
for if we follow the prince of lies,
we might follow him right to his kingdom hell,
so listen carefully and listen good,
listen to what needs to be understood,
follow god and what is right stop putting on your headphones,
and listen to what is right.

A M A Z I N G!!! you are so talented. this poem is so so true & relevant. so many ppl, teens especially, are so focused on adding new songs to their ipods etc, & learning all the words to their favorite rap song, that they fail to take off those headphones & listen to what God has to say about the direction in which their lives are going in. we all need to be more conscious as to what it is being heard through our headphones as well. i've had to realize this personally. as i strive everyday to become more like jesus, i realize that, no matter how much it may seem like im giving up, i can't continue to listen to the same things i ust to listen to, sing the same songs i ust to sing, watch the same shows i ust to watch etc, because i am no longer the same person. i am a new creation!
