The Shack, a great book

Post  Daviddoc on Tue Oct 07, 2008 4:07 am

I just wanted to let you guys know about a great book called The Shack. It really gives a great perspective on getting through pain and how God loves you through everything. there's some stuff in it that people question theologically but it's a novel that the author wrote as a christmas present for his kids and has a lot of cool insights into the trinity and how God works in the world. here's a link to the website http://www.theshackbook.com/

I've got it ordered, as a friend of mine told me about how good it was a couple weeks back. Looking forward to reading it.

a note of warning! you need to read the book carefully. While i agree with most of it, there are some things that you need to think twice about. i lent mine out otherwise id quote, but ya, just read and think about all of it carefully, besides, that makes the good parts even better if you think more deeply about it

Oh yes! Great book. It takes place here in Wallowa County, which makes it even more interesting. It was a little strange, but it was very honest and made good points that I haven't heard elsewhere. Like....forgiving someone doesn't mean letting them into your life, and other "religious stereotypes." I think that this book's purpose is to show people that you can't put God in a box.

I will hopefully get to read this soon! My friend Julie's family has all read it, and they love it. They are actually from around the area where the novel takes place! I'm really excited to read it- it sounds like such a great book!

I must disagree.

I, personally, found this book full Sacreligious material. Not to belittle or bash the above posters who enjoyed this book, but I, personally, wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I think it's up to the reader. Wink
