Why God exists

Post  swampfox15 on Sat Oct 18, 2008 1:35 am

Hebrews 11

1-2 “The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It's our handle on what we can't see. The act of faith is what distinguished our ancestors, set them above the crowd.
3By faith, we see the world called into existence by God's word, what we see created by what we don't see.”

So we hear talk about the Man Upstairs, Creator of Heaven and earth. Now, many people don’t believe He exists. How would you like to be someone’s father, and hear “Oh, I’ve never had a daddy.” You’d be hurt, or unsure that your child ever truly met you. Now I want to give some facts about God’s existence, and a few verses to help you with your quest for faith in belief in a Creator.

Fact One: The universe can’t have come here on its own. Big bang theory or not, it needs a Creator.

Fact Two: “
The Earth...its size is perfect. The Earth's size and corresponding gravity holds a thin layer of mostly nitrogen and oxygen gases, only extending about 50 miles above the Earth's surface. If Earth were smaller, an atmosphere would be impossible, like the planet Mercury. If Earth were larger, its atmosphere would contain free hydrogen, like Jupiter.3 Earth is the only known planet equipped with an atmosphere of the right mixture of gases to sustain plant, animal and human life.” That’s a quote from www.everystudent.com

Fact Three: So many people have felt God’s love, and Spirit, so therefore there must be a Higher Power. Every painting has a painter, and every teen zine has an editor, so why can’t the universe have a Maker? I know it’s hard to believe, as it’s human to doubt. My preacher says to doubt your doubt. When feeling faith problems, read your bible, talk to a youth pastor/preacher, or just do some plain old research. God is there if you search for Him with all your heart. This is mentioned a few times in the Bible. God has changed many lives, and can change yours if you let Him.

Here’s the next verse on finding God: Hebrews 12
Discipline in a Long-Distance Race
1-3 “Do you see what this means—all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we'd better get on with it. Strip down, start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we're in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he's there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls.”

Dear God, please help us to believe in You, no matter how much doubt our society produces. Please show us You are real, and help us to know science supports this. In Jesus Christ’s Name, Amen!

Now we’ll ask for questions.
